How does door-to-door cat transport work?
Door-to-door means pickup and delivery happen at the addresses you and the receiving person agree on—not at an airport, cargo facility, or public transfer point. It does not mean every trip is nonstop: safe driving limits, care stops, weather, and border processing can still shape the route.

Before you book
What to ask before hiring any transporter
Before booking with any transport company—not just Cat Valet—ask:
- Who will directly handle the cat, and what is their experience with cats specifically?
- How are food and medication instructions documented, and does the driver follow them exactly?
- What happens if timing changes mid-route?
- How are emergency contacts used if something goes wrong?
- Exactly how are pickup and delivery confirmed—is there a personal handoff, or just a drop-off?
Why the model matters
Why “door-to-door” matters for cats specifically
Pickup and delivery at agreed addresses can mean fewer transfers and unfamiliar handoffs for a cat already dealing with an unfamiliar journey. It also makes responsibility at each end clearer: the receiving person knows where and when to meet the driver, and the driver can confirm the handoff directly.

When plans change
Ask how updates and delays will be handled.
Before departure, ask how and when updates are shared with the people at pickup and delivery. Weather, traffic, safe driving limits, care stops, and border processing can change the estimated timing.
Emergency and veterinary contacts should be current and reachable throughout the journey. A clear answer about who is contacted, when, and how helps you evaluate any transporter before you book.
