Can a diabetic cat travel long distance?
A diabetic cat may be considered for long-distance ground transportation when the individual care plan, stable routine, written veterinary instructions, supplies, and timing can be reviewed before booking. Cat Valet does not make medical decisions; drivers follow the prescribed plan and do not independently alter doses or schedules.
What needs review
The care plan comes before the travel plan.
Meals and insulin
Usual food, portions, meal timing, insulin timing, supplies, storage, and the established relationship between feeding and dosing.
Normal observations
What normal appetite, behavior, litter use, and rest look like for your cat, plus warning signs identified by you or your veterinarian.
Contingency contacts
Current owner, receiving person, veterinarian, and written instructions for who should be contacted if care cannot proceed normally.
What to prepare
Make the instructions as clear as the labels.
Keep medication in original labeled packaging whenever possible. Provide administration supplies, storage materials, food, written instructions, veterinarian contact information, and enough medication for the expected travel time plus a reasonable delay.
Drivers do not diagnose illness, prescribe medication, change a dose, or independently adjust a treatment schedule. If a cat’s health status raises concerns, we may ask you to consult the prescribing veterinarian before transportation is confirmed.

Tell us about insulin, oral or topical medication, prescription diets, and other care needs in the first quote request. That gives us time to review whether the journey and care schedule are a practical fit.
